YAY! It’s Football Season!!

Last week I forgot to do a giveaway on Tuesday. So on Wednesday I promised I’d offer one on Thursday. Then, I forgot to offer one on Thursday. And I have to be honest, I ALMOST forgot to offer one today!! SOoooo, if you were wondering if I’d ever offer another free weekly illustration, you were right to wonder!! Apparently I’m a mom of “very little brain” these days!

The truth is that last week even my mom was texting me to ask if something was wrong! I couldn’t manage to find time to talk to her either! And if I talk to ANYone during a week, its definitely her! It was a short week, and I was having trouble getting everything in in a few short days. We had just come off of a weekend that was a hair shy of divine (ok, it was WAY less than divine… BUT it was indeed a divine BLESSING!). We went camping, just the four of us, and were together all weekend long. It was won. der. ful. But its hard to get back to it after such a string of days! Plus, its that time of year when everything starts heating up schedule-wise. We’re definitely feeling it. You?

Even though it was a short crazy week, we managed to find time to host friends three different nights! (Hence not being able to call my mom.) And one of our dinner guests was one of my husband’s college roommates, who just moved to town this summer. We, of course, couldn’t help but reminisce about college days and tell stories that never get old.

Where is this leading?

Well, his roomy, Justin, and one of their other roommates were football players for the college team. We went to every home football game. Oh the FUN that was. I want to swoon just thinking about it. I get SO romantic about going to football games!

Not only that, but recently the air has turned cool and crisp. FALL is DEFINITELY in the air! And I am beside myself happy about it! It seems a tad bit early this year, but I am in LURV with it! Back to school. Crisp air. Leaves about to turn color. The smell of fallen leaves in the ground. The pumpkin patch opening up. It all shouts FOOTBALL time to me! Our alma mater is going to be in a nearby city in October, so we’re heading there with Justin to go watch a game. But I’m itching to go to a game before then. I’m sure we’ll work something out.

So this post, as did this series, definitely celebrates school athletics. And today we’re celebrating football season! If you’re originally from a small town, like I am, EVERYONE goes to the local football games, whether you’re into athletics or not. And when you grew up in that mind frame, it’s easy to become romantic about outdoor football games, all bundled up, and sitting among close friends, or playing in the pep band.

Something that is not romantic about this morning as I write this post, is that I’m still in my bathrobe and my kids are watching old 1968 Batman cartoons on You Tube so I can write this. And mostly because I was too distracted typing this to help them work out their screaming at each other! They’re quiet now, but I better go be “Mom” now! I think some time out in the perfect fall air is on order for the next two hours of the day!
