Pumpin Patching
This past weekend we were able to enjoy one of the best traditions of autumn. We got to go to the local pumpkin patch! We met my brother, sister-in-law, and two nieces there and had such a great time together. Our pumpkin patch has so many great activities for the kids. We can’t wait to go back!! My boys are dying to carve pumpkins now, but Dad says we have to wait till closer to Trick-or-Treating so they won’t rot!
I have somewhat of an announcement to make. Nothing too exciting. But, I have decided to cut back on HappyFamily illustrations for the remainder of the year. O I will surely still be doing them, but I will only be taking one per week from here on out. That is, as long as the Lord keeps providing the work. (I have been doing two per week.) For those of you who have been following since at least last winter, you know that last winter I took a masters degree level class. Well, I just started my second class at the same level last week! And so papers, and reading, and studying homework abounds right now!! And for the rest of the year. Oi!!
Life is always on the move around here (and I’m SURE around there as well!), and so my work must shift with it. Besides, it seems that the Lord would have me do this for this season. That is, both take this class, and take on less work.
Besides this, remember the wedding-promo I had planned for October? Well… it flopped!
It’s ok. I just attended a wonderful Entrepreneur/Leadership seminar all day last Friday, and one thing said at it was that 90% of our ideas are bad ones and don’t work! Haha! So here’s to one more idea that didn’t work!
I also didn’t have the gumption to promote as I should have. But all is well. I do have HappyFAMILY applicants to move forward with, and am oh so pleased and privileged to continue on in this vein! YAY!
Is it feeling like fall where you are at? If so, what have you done or are going to do to celebrate and enjoy the season? Any more pumpkin patchers?
Or apple pickers? Or garden harvesters? Do tell!! I do love to talk some autumn talk!! (Just today I roasted tomatoes from my garden to freeze for later this winter!)
All my love to you!! I’m so grateful for you!
xox,
Katie

ooh, love this piece, Katie! It’s not fall quite yet here in Dallas, but I’m looking forward to it, as it’s my favorite season! I have a killer pumpkin soup recipe that I’m looking forward to.
Ooh! YUM! Have you ever served it in a big hollowed out and baked pumpkin (or a bunch of little ones for bowls)? I have a pumpkin stew that calls to do that. I have never done it in all the little pumpkins, but I have in the one big one. It’s definitely a fun fall presentation!
Good luck with your classes, Katie! That’s a big challenge and it’s even bigger when you also work!
You sound like someone who knows!
Thanks Lorena!! Hope you are well!!
hi katie!! love this pic – so cute! and i totally get you needing to cut back a bit – you need to find the right balance for you right now
and i still have some happy family illustrations to redeem – i keep trying to think of the perfect thing to do
hope all is well – sounds like you are busy, but good – which is exactly like me LOL!
HI DANA!! SO good to see you pop up on here again!! I have missed seeing that smile!
I will look forward to doing more of your pieces! You made me laugh when you said “busy but good”! From what I hear, you are one busy lady! So glad you are good! HUG!!
Just wanted to thank you for continuing to brighten my every week. I like to add your pics to my staff work schedules–something cheerful to take away from the fact they have to work. I really appreciate all of your incredible effort and talent.
Dawn
What a neat idea Dawn! I’m so glad I can offer some cheer! You must be so neat to work for!
Hi Katie – just started following your work and I love it! I have a 6 month old daughter and I hope to print out some of your weekly pics and tell her stories about them. She loves bright bold colours, and they will be a great starting point for our imaginations! Thank you so much for your beautiful talent, and good luck on all your educational goals (not easy….still waiting on finishing my degree but funny how life keeps getting in the way
