There’s No Place Like Home Sweet Houseboat
Another week, another piece to give away! And this week, from a new series!! I very keenly remember working on this series. And even more so, on THIS piece!! I STILL want this boat! As many of you know, I love illustrating interiors, so this was such a blast to imagine!
You know, last year, doing one illustration a day for a year… even though it was very difficult keeping at it every single day, it was very fun and very rewarding! It was so great to create just anything that came to mind, no rules or boundaries. It was cool to see the wide range of pieces I could come up with. That YOU helped me come up with! It was SO fun to have that interaction and input for new series and new ideas!! I wonder if I did a whole nother year just like it, all over again… say in 2013, what else I’d get to create! I don’t think I’ll ever do another year of 365 illustrations in a year… but its fun to think about…
But never say never right? Only God knows what the future holds! And if He ever thinks I should do another year like then, then game I will be!! He made 2011 possible, He makes 2012 possible! He should could make another year of illustrations possible.
How about you? Are you open to the many things God may have for your life? If you’re anything like me, it’s easier to be open to MY plan for my life!! As my husband says, “yeah that never works!” We’ve tried to plan the details of our life so many times its embarrassing! Lol! But thank the Lord, God doesn’t change, and is always good, and always knows what is better. Even if it is hard for a season. Thank the LORD life hasn’t gone according to our plans!!! I MUCH prefer God’s plans!
Are you resistant to God in your life? Oh sweet Oohmoonie, life is SO much better (NOT synonymous with EASIER) when we just surrender and let God be God. If you haven’t placed your faith in His Son who died for your sins so you wouldn’t have to die eternally for them, do so today! Give him a home in your heart! And if you have, but you are resisting His handiwork in your life, try to “let go and let God” as the saying goes.
I hope this finds you… well… open, today. If our hearts were like this houseboat, they might be attractive from the outside, in all the external ways. We might be floating along as if we have it all together! And as if life is a sail at sea! But imagine how beautiful our hearts, and how meaningful our lives could be on the INSIDE, behind the scenes (which inevitably over flows to the externals), if we’d, for just a moment forget OUR own ways, and be open to the work of God in our lives!
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.”For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9, NASB). For further reading, check out the verse’s beautiful context HERE.
Raise that white flag today. Stop resisting to what is higher and better for you (again, not necessarily easier)! Surrender to the good God of heaven who never changes! Let Him move in, take over, and make Himself and His will at home in your house… I mean heart!
God bless you this day, my friends!
xox!
