HappyFamily Norby

This is the first farming family I’ve created. I have to say I fell in LOVE with this family. I was “AWWwwwww cute”-ing with each new family member’s photo I pulled up to illustrate next! And out loud too! What gorgeous kids! What a beautiful family! I definitely enjoyed making a “cool” farm too! Farms don’t genrally say “chic” like, for instance, an NYC city scape does, but I love a good challenge! And I do love me some wide open spaces! Thank you Norby family, for sharing yourselves with all of us!

Here is Lorilee’s entry:

Tell me a brief summary of each member of your family (name, age, hair/eye color, personality). *
My husband Jeremy (32) is tall, with broad shoulders and a contagious smile. He has dark hair, and hazel eyes, and deep laugh lines when he smiles, which is often! He is outgoing and lots of fun. Our oldest daughter, Ella (6) is sweet, quiet and playful, with long brown/blonde hair and huge blue eyes that never blink. She recently learned how to read and got purple glasses, and she makes a cute little bookworm! Our next daughter, Avé Frances (4) is spunky and full of attitude. She has brown hair cut into a bob, and sparkley brown eyes that make you wonder just exactly what she has been up to. She loves to dance and she enjoyes striking a new pose for every picture she is in. Beckett (2), our son, is all boy, and he adores tractors, excavators, and dirt. He has blonde hair and dark brown eyes and never sits still. Lorilee (me, 32) is short, with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes. I work as an accountant and love to do crafty projects and play with the kids.
The 3 to 5 prominent colors I would like in my piece include:* I love color, and I am open to anything! Colors you can find in my home are teal, orange, yellow, green, and white.
Is there a career path you would like to include in an illustration * Jeremy farms and raises cattle (along with his day job selling insurance), so that would be fun to include something about tractors or cattle or pivots (which irrigate the sugar beet fields).
Tell me what you would like to see your family doing (would you like them just sitting all together posing, as if for a picture? Or would you like them to be doing something together). Please supply the most details here: * I would like our family to be outside on the farm, posing for a picture, but in a very casual and fun way! Maybe the background could include hay bales, a tractor, blank angus cattle, or a beet field with a pivot. My father recently passed away in an airplane accident, and because he was a huge part of our lives, I would love to have a red and white airplane flying in the sky off in the distance. Casual, fun, relaxed are theme words for us. Usually Jeremy or I would be holding Beckett, with the other one holding one or both of the girls’ hands if we were posing for a picture.
Any other details you might be able to give me that would help ensure your enjoyment of the piece:* Can you make my rear end look smaller?! I would enjoy that. Ha!

Gotta LOVE Lorilee’s final comment! Lol! I hear you, girl! I so hear you! I’d request the same thing for my rear end! ;) Ha!

I also love how Lorilee wrote about her family. I think she has writing talent. And I think she  adores her family!! What a beautiful woman you are, Lorilee!!

Oh! And, one thing that I have found really cool when working on these ‘HappyFamily’ pieces,  is the way we are able to work in special details for each happy family! Like the red airplane in honor of Lorilee’s dad. We have also honored lost children many times. As well as a late mother. It adds that very personal touch for each family!

Happy Wednesday Oohmoonies!! If you’re new to oohmoon this week, “Oohmoonies” is my term of endearment for all of YOU! Much love to you!

A new HappyFamily piece live on Friday!

xox,
Katie
