Happy Family Jourdan
I was SOoo excited when I read I got to illustrate a piece set in Paris!! And walking home from the street Market too… baguette, flowers, and bags in arm! SWEET!!! I love the colors that Catherine chose as well!! And what a lovely family she has! What a fabulous piece to work on this week!!
Here is Catherine’s entry:
********
Elena is 2.5 yrs old, has light brown hair, slight curls, brown eyes, loves to laugh and play and is happiest in a skirt.
Mom, Catherine, has long dark brown hair, brown eyes, 5.8″, a runner, likes to wear high heals, enjoys relaxing by sitting on a terrace
Dad, Tony, has brown eyes, dark hair, thinning up top (!), 6 feet tall, built, enjoys a glass of wine to unwind.
Careers:
No need to depict careers unless it’s inspiring. Tony is a CPA (so a calculator in the picture somewhere could be amusing), Catherine is a consultant (generally wearing suits and rolling a suitcase), and Elena goes to daycare and loves the swings and the slide at the playground; she also enjoys riding her hot pink bicycle with training wheels or her scooter (also pink).
Colors: deep reds / purple / blues
Portrait or landscape: surprise us!
Scene ideas:
We used to live in New York City and recently moved to Paris, so the Eiffel Tower in the background would be very appropriate.
We travel quite a lot; an airplane in the distance would also be fitting.
We love to go to the market together on Saturday mornings; Tony could be carrying a baguette, Catherine a bag of groceries, and Elena a bunch of flowers from the flower stand.
Or perhaps a scene with Tony and Catherine sitting on the terrace of a Parisian cafe, with Elena standing alongside the small round bistro table (with 2 glasses of red wine and a bottle of Orangina) with her scooter.

Now that I feel as if I’ve gotten acquainted with the Jourdan’s, I so wish I could pay them a visit in Paris.
Catherine, Tony, and Elena, I hope you love your piece! It was a delight to create!!
Happy weekend everyone!!
xox,
Katie
