Pedal Pushers: Tandem Bike
I find tandem bikes fascinating. It’s pretty cool how old the idea is. Some of the first bikes were tandem. And its amazing how they are made to fit 4, 5, 6 people on them too! I wonder, in those cases, if everyone has to “work” at riding, or is it just the front and possibly the rear who keep it going for everyone. On top of those tandems, they also make tandem attachments for regular bicycles. Have you guys seen the tandem kid attachments? Maybe some of you have one. Do you like it? Does it work well? Anyways, I’ve always thought it would be fun to own one of these. It would make for fun dates. Maybe someday when its just the two of us again….
In a drastic change of subject, I am wondering if any Oohmoonies were affected (directly, or indirectly) by Hurricane Irene on the East Coast? How is everyone faring? My thoughts and prayers are toward you! Please let us know who you are, so that all of us who pray can be praying for you specifically! I’m praying for strength, comfort, and hope in this difficult time for you.
My love to you, Oohmoonies!
Katie
p.s. Check out the Homestretch Hundred Contest if you haven’t! Just a few more days to enter!

oohhh, the red heel shoes … on a bike … exactly what I am able to do … luckily the ridiculousness does not kill (French proverb);-)
… and the fabric of the pants: I love the tweed.
I think automn is my favorite season.
Have a great day, Katie
I’m so impressed you can ride with heels on!!
I, too, love the red heels!
These are tricky to get the hang of the first time you’re on one. It probably didn’t help my case any that my husband was purposely “driving” it kind of wobbly!
My brother & SIL live in Annapolis, MD. They are doing just fine and had no damage to their apartment or cars. They were a little disappointed with the effects of the hurricane in their area because it was a lot like a really severe thunderstorm back here in ND, but with more rain and flooding. I’m thankful because I was already worried enough about them after the earthquake!
Yeah, no kidding! Earthquake, hurricane. Ouch! Glad they’re ok!
We have a tandem and just love it! And we have a tandem trail-a-bike too, so we attach that and turn our tandem into a quad. Then the whole family is all on one bike. It’s pretty fun!
Wow! I’d love to see a pic of that!
so cute katie! i’d love to get one of the tandem trail-a-bikes too – i know the girls would love that! we used to have a little two seater thing that we pulled behind the bike when our oldest was younger – we looooved it – but it was stolen (!!) – argghh!
and i’m from the east coast (boston) – and everything is OK for us re. the storm – thanks for asking! the only problem we had was that we were out of town – with a plan to fly back home on sunday … well – we are STILL out of town! LOL! we haven’t been able to get a flight back for all of us – and the earliest we are finding is thursday ..but, since we were supposed to go out of town again on friday for labor day, we are just staying here at the beach until our friday trip LOL – so, an extra week of vacation !!
and thanks for the reminder about the contest! i still need to apply!
Well, that is certainly a bright side to flights going awry! You guys sound like you travel a lot! Paris, this trip, one next weekend. Nice! I’m glad to hear your home is ok!! Enjoy your extra week!
Beautiful series!
I live in Southern Vermont, so we are pretty severely affected by the storm. My house sits high and dry, my Mom is living with us while her road (and driveway) is rebuilt. She should have power back later in the week and only had a few inches of water in the basement. Friends and coworkers lost…everything. Houses in the river. Our mantra this week has been “they’re just things.”
Vermonters are strong folks but the devastation has been just unbelievable. We aren’t used to this. Our storms are usually nor’easters with lots of snow, or at worst we have ice and downed trees!
Since I read your comment I can’t get you and your mom off my mind! You gave a clear picture of what everyone out there is going through right now. Thank the Lord she didn’t have more than a few inches in the basement… and that she has you! But people lost everything! So sad! I’m praying for a quick recovery from this natural disaster! What a great perspective: they’re just things. But nonetheless, its devastating. We feel so secure knowing we have a place to live, and to have that taken away or threatened is so unsettling and difficult… to say the least. Thank you for sharing, and I will surely pray for all of you! http://scrip.ly/Ps20:7-8/e
pretty.
my dad was supposed to fly out to yellowstone from philly on saturday or sunday but the airports were all closed so our meet up this coming saturday in salt lake may not happen. he said they just had some limbs down and such but otherwise it wasn’t as bad as they expected.
So glad it wasn’t as bad as they expected!
plus, is that pants style called pedal pushers or is larger bottomed capris?
