Alphabet Anatomy: X Chromosome
So, today’s piece was a toss up between the X Chromosome and the Xiphoid Process (the cartilage at the bottom middle of your rib cage. I was actually leaning toward the xiphoid process to begin with… but after some thought, which produced nothing but a blank screen, I decided the X Chromosome would be better. Choosing this also makes tomorrow’s piece come very naturally. Can you guess what it is? I can’t do an X without its counterpart!
So most of us know that two X’s make those of us who are female, female. So what else makes us female? I don’t ask this in an anatomical way. I mean, what else about us is distinctly woman? I’m thinking about this, I think, because last night my husband told me to leave the house and go do whatever I wanted to do. (AWESOME!!) Did I choose something he would have chosen to do? Nope. I went browsing. Not even shopping really. Just browsing! Though I did buy a few small things. I just had the TIME to walk from store to store. Normally I have 2 kids on my hips and have to run in and out as fast as I possibly can. I glance at the pretty things, but nary get a chance to stop and study them! There’s no time for browsing in my life anymore. So I just went through a few stores looking at all the beautiful things, and actually making a mental list of gift ideas for friends and family. It was SO nice to know I didn’t need to be back at a certain time. As long as the stores were open, I could be there too. Then on my way home, I pulled into a Starbucks drive-through, ordered a low-fat iced caramel macchiato, and because I had a gift card and was enjoying a rare me-night, I also decided to try one of their new cake-pops (I almost never buy food there). It was super sweet, but with each bite, I liked it more. I might even order another one next time.
That being said, what man would choose to do that with their evening? Well… I’m sure plenty of men. They might choose different stores to browse (Cabellas, perhaps?). And, in fact, I know plenty of women who would NOT choose to go “browsing” with their time too! But either way, it made me feel girlie. And I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you to my rock star husband! Love you babe!
What girlie things do you like to do, women? (Men, you can answer for your wives/daughters/sisters)?
luv ya mi ladies!

When I have free time, I like to organize and I always do it by color…in rainbow order. It’s fun and pretty.
Lol! love it!
I am not a shopper. I am so not a shopper, that last year when we were on holidays in Asia I gave myself the local equivalent of $10 to spend, and told myself I wouldn’t go back to the hotel until I’d spent it all. Two hours later I went back to the hotel with the local equivalent of $3 in my pocket – That’s how much I’m not a shopper. In 2 hours I couldn’t spend $10. The most expensive purchase I made was some North Korean money, to complete our “Axis of Evil” currency collection. So now you know 1) I’m not a shopper; and 2) I’m a huge geek. Surrounded by beautiful jewelry and shawls and pashminas and the most incredible silks and cottons, I was most excited about finding an obscure currency store.
I think I’m letting down the X chromosome to say that probably the most girly thing I do is buy a bra every now and then. It’s probably the only thing I do that most (but certainly not all!) men wouldn’t do.
Well, you have that!
And that certainly sets you apart as girl!
p.s. I don’t think you’re a geek!
Love this one!

I like it when I get time in my house alone. It’s even better when I have the energy to dive into my boxes of fabric to create. When I get time out of the house I like to hit the mall…and NOT stop at the playground for hours.
ooh! THat’s a good one too! Just time alone at home! And to create! Sounds like a dream to me! Totally agree on not stopping at the playground!
Baths. I love a good bath
And this is super cute!
Your husband definitely is a rockstar! I can’t say that’s ever happened to me…so jealous!
I’m not sure what I’d choose to do…either shopping or scrapbooking, my long lost loves. I really like this X and Y idea!
