Noah’s Ark: Setting Sail
Genesis 7:17-20, 24
Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered. The water prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered… The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days.
Our boat has now set sail for a 5 month long journey. Can you imagine living in a boat filled with animals for 5 months? What did that boat smell like by the end of it? Can you imagine the affect that amount of water had on the earth? I remember being at a camp in the foothills in Montana as a kid and seeing imprints in the stone of large sea shells. Of course we were no where near a large body of water, let alone one that contained sea shells. I’m sure we could come up with lots of different sorts of explanations for it… but maybe, just maybe, could the explanation lie within our story this week?! We’ll never know this side of forever, but I have say that I am curious.
Today, we have another boat, filled with mostly new animals, and surrounded by pairs of sea creatures. If you look closely, you’ll see two of every shape of fish in the water. They’re in differing colors, but they all do have a mate. As do the animals in the boat of course. Also, the fish are all in shades of blue or white, and the animals in the boat are all in shades of orange or white. This made what could have been a very chaotic scene with color everywhere, an image with clarity. you immediately see there are sea animals and there are land animals. After doing Tuesday’s illustration, I kept thinking of other animals I wished I had done… so this was another opportunity to get some of those in print too. I’m sure I’ll think of more over the next few days, but illustrating animals is not something I’ll have a shortage of this week. Do you have any animals you’d like to see still this week that I haven’t thought of? I’d love to pick your brains for more ideas! Let me know!
Happy Thursday Everyone!
Katie

I just love how you do the animals. LOVE them. As much as I despise getting stung by jellyfish, I too have a fondness for them and noticed them first thing!
