Hoot Hoot: Owl #1
Pretty much since day one of this blog I have known I would at some time do a whole week on owls. Why? I’m not exactly sure… other than the fact that I just am fond of owls. We love the owl that frequents our yard in the summertime and keeps the grackles (a mean kind of blackbird) away. Anyways….the owl week has arrived! My son received a book all about owls for Christmas this year, and in part, that is my inspiration for the week. Because of the book I have learned about several different species of owl. So I am going to loosely illustrate different kinds of owls this week. I say “loosely” because I am not going to box myself into exact characteristics for each owl. I would like to leave room for some creative freedom. Owl #1 is based on the boobook (said boo -book) owl.
Remember, just ONE WEEK until I choose 6 of you with your families to illustrate. I can’t wait! Seriously. I’m really looking forward to it. The entries that have come in so far have been just wonderful! I can’t believe the beautiful pictures and beautiful families you have! I adore owls! My grandmother used to be lovingly called “The Owl Lady” because she had such a huge collection of them. Everytime I see one I think of her.

A hoot…hee hee..oh you clever gal. : ) One of my Ensel’s first words was owl. He always gets excited when we see pics of them. He will love this.
